A little about me and what I hope to achieve through City Balance, Body and Mind;
I moved to Derby when I was 21 and qualified as a social worker. I then worked over 10 years with children, families and fellow professionals at Safe and Sound (S&S) supporting those experiencing or affected by Child Sexual Exploitation. During my work at S&S I trained as a Person Centred Counsellor and Pilates Instructor, understanding that individuals are a whole being; physical health is as important as an individuals mental health and vice versa.
The training and experience I have gained through my different roles has expanded my awareness of how emotional and physical health is greatly improved with activities be that physical, mental or spoken activity. City Balance provides a diverse range of activities and therapies in a safe and welcoming space with skilled professionals in one building to deliver an informed and fun service to you the client.
Pilates will provide a workout for the whole body; engaging small and large muscles in a traditional and at times creative way. Classes are kept small to give you a personal experience and allowing me to work with your strengths and body type, keeping you engaged in the class throughout. Choose early morning or an after work class and engage your body in a strengthening, releasing and relaxing class.
An ideal way to start or end your working day.
This class is suitable for men and women, no previous Pilates experience required.Please note the studio is upstairs.
45 minute class - Pay as you go £5.50 / 4 week block £20.00
60 minute class – Pay as you go £7.00 / 4 week block £24.00

Pilates Workshop with Claire Connor
2 hour workshop with a focus on a specific fundamental element of Pilates. Incorporating small apparatus to provide attendees with ideas for home exercises with the TheraBand, swiss ball, over ball etc.
Challenging attendees with an intensive 2 hour class

Counselling/Therapy provides a space for you to discuss an individual or range of issues. Counselling can help with; loss, anger, loneliness, anxiety, bereavement, the impact of change, eating disorders/disordered eating, self esteem, body image, depression, feelings of low mood, relationship issues, stress, burnout, work related matters, also historical events; childhood abuse, neglect, loss and more.
A safe, confidential and non-judgmental space is provided to you so we can build a trusting relationship. No matter how small you feel the issue is, if it is impacting on your day to day living or quality of life, speaking to a counsellor may help.
The first session is an opportunity to meet each other and for you to decide if you would like to continue with me as your counsellor, you will not be tied to a set number of sessions. I would appreciate 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation, this can be done via text or phone call.
I work from City Balance on London Road, this is an upstairs room with no current down stairs option. However, I am able to consider an alternative if access is a matter of difficulty.
