Is your fear of flying ruining your holidays? Then you are not alone.  Up to 1 in 10 of us [Anxiety UK] may be affected. Aerophobia is a disproportionate apprehension about air travel. The fear of flying may be linked to other psychological issues such as claustrophobia (fear of closed spaces) or increased anxiety. Tai Chi and Health Qigong are ancient Chinese arts which have become popular in the west due to the many health benefits they offer. Some of the conditions which our members have include arthritis, stress, Parkinson's, fibromyalgia, ME/CFS and diabetes. Carol works very closely with the Derbyshire Parkinson's Support Group and holds two classes a week for their members and carers. Separate classes are also available for over 50s and people who want something less physically demanding than in a typical exercise class. Due to popular demand, there is now a Meditation/Relaxation class on the first Wednesday morning each month. Details here.

8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course in Derby

This training has been created by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn from the University of Massachusetts. It is designed to help participants learn new ways of handling difficult physical sensations, feelings and moods. The training enables participants to see things differently, undoing mental and physical knots and tensions. It can increase our sense of personal confidence, of having more options and more strength ro face the different challenges in our lives.

Catharsis and City Balance are working together to develop a 6 week therapeutic group for mothers coming to terms with old and new identities.
Mind, Body and Motherhood is open to all; we are keen to provide support to new mothers as well as mothers with more than one child.  
Each 1 ½ hour session will allow for group members to reflect and share their individual experiences with the support of Charlotte Browning, State Registered dramatherapist and Claire Connor, person centered counselor and Pilates instructor.
The treatment room is for hire and we are currently running a very special offer to anyone who needs a treatment room to work from. Booking is for a 12 hour session run over 4 weeks in blocks of 3 hours. To register your interest or enquire further please contact Claire here.
The room contains 2 easy chairs and a treatment table all providing a warm and cosy atmosphere to carry out your practice.
